In July 2007, Team ONE, consisting of eight young people living with Type I diabetes, trekked to Everest base camp in an effort to raise public awareness of diabetes and change perceptions of what determined people with diabetes can achieve. We are breaking diabetes boundaries, and in the process, raising funds for the JDRF, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Type I diabetes - a cure that is within reach and that would change the lives of millions of people worldwide

Breaking Diabetes Boundaries symbolizes our mission to dispel myths around diabetes, break through research barriers, as well as discourage limits being set on what people with this condition can accomplish. Of course breaking boundaries also plays on the fact that we are diverse youth and support crew who will be crossing geopolitical and altitude boundaries to get to Everest Base Camp!

All youth living with Diabetes made it to Everest Base Camp, a success rate well above normal.
