In august 2006, Sebastien Sasseville became the first Canadian living with diabetes to successfully climb Peak Lenin, a 7134 m hill in Kyrgyzstan. Lenin is the second highest peak in former Soviet Union and witnessed the worst tragedy in mountaineering history in 1990.
