Kilimanjaro

In August 2005, nine young teenagers diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes showed the world the real meaning of willpower, determination and self-achievement. After nearly a year of training, fund raising, physical and mental preparation, the team took off to Tanzania and climbed the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.

This life changing expedition proved to the entire community the limitless condition of diabetic young adults, as well as stood as a source of inspiration for every teenager diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Not only these nine youngsters realized a dream, they also sowed thousands of them and transmit their passion for self- accomplishment.

Onboard were Amberly, Natasha, Sarah, Elyse, Zach, James, Kevin, Katlyn and Stephanie, all from British Columbia. The expedition raised 50 000$ for the JDRF and was considered a world premiere.
